The Journey

The Journey

Her eyes on the mountaintops
she gathers strength from the moon
as she flows toward the ocean
swept along by the current
on the river of love.

Undeterred by crash and splash
she knows she will break free
into a thousand shooting stars
stream of strength exploding
waterfall of dreams.

This is written to the words in Ed's wordlist over at Real Toads.  Of the 21 words he listed, I used 13.  The words I used are italicized.

  1. I am impressed that you have used 13 words, Mary! I love the feelings of determination and strength we can feel in your poem. I also like the imagery, especially 'the river of love' and the 'waterfall of dreams'.

  13. Quite the romantic I think you are! River of love … for some reason I had "Huey Lewis & the News" "Power of love" in my mind after I read that line - kind of gave your poem a "rock n roll" vibe after that :)

  21. Like so many others, I was captivated by your "thousand shooting stars" here, Mary. A poem full of love but not at all mushy.
I love the photo of all three dogs. Somewhere in my head, Tulip is always the tiny puppy, but not in reality, I see.

  24. 'Alone is not lonely' is my favourite bit. I was talking with my youngest about this, about what introverts need, which is being alone but not lonely, also known as 'recovering from being around my extrovert brother.'
